For friends and rivals
Rabona video for friends: the rival playbook
The semi-rabona is a tease built into a football move. The leg swings behind, the defender believes it, slides in, and finds nothing there. That is exactly the message you want to send the friend who supports the other team. This page is the playbook: which clip to make for which friend, what to write under it, when to send it, and the few rules that keep it funny.
Updated Oct 18, 2026: the rival playbook with eight situations, captions and timing, plus the rules of the game for teasing friends.

The short answer
A rabona video for friends is the Lamine Yamal semi-rabona with you, or a friend who said yes, as the player. You upload one clear photo and we make an 8-second vertical video, 9:16 at 720p, with stadium sound. It is the same clip every time; only the person on the ball changes: they run onto the ball, carry it, swing the leg behind as if to hit a rabona, do not strike, the defender in the red or orange shirt slides past and misses, and they cut inside and carry on toward goal. It is a wide match camera, so think highlight reel, not close-up. It takes about 3 minutes. The point is the caption: you are the one doing the move, and your friend is the defender who bit. A single video is $9.99.
What's new on this page
- 2026-10-18Page published with the rival playbook: eight situations, the clip to make, the caption and the right moment to send it.
- 2026-10-18Added the rules of the game: friends who said yes, tease without humiliating, and no photos of public figures.
The idea
Why the semi-rabona is the perfect tease
Most football moments are about scoring. This one is about fooling someone. In Lamine Yamal's semi-rabona against Galatasaray, the whole beauty is the defender: he commits to a shot that never comes, slides in, and misses. A second defender lunges and misses too. The move is a joke at their expense, played out at full speed.
That is why it works between friends. You do not need to say "you fell for it". The clip says it for you. Send the video of you doing the move, add one line, and your friend becomes the defender on the floor. If you want the football detail behind the feint, it is on the semi-rabona meaning page. For how the clip spread, see the trend page.
Who gets which clip
The rival playbook
Every friend group has the same characters. Here is what to make for each one, what to write under it, and when it lands best. Timing is half the joke.
| The situation | The clip you make | The caption | When to send it |
|---|---|---|---|
| The friend who supports the other team | You, in your own team's shirt, doing the semi-rabona. | "Your defence watching this like…" | Right after your team scores against theirs. Not before kick-off. |
| The five-a-side teammate who never passes | You, in your five-a-side kit, faking the shot and going on alone. | "Learned it from you. Still not passing." | In the team chat the night before the next game. |
| The one who lost the bet | The loser, with their yes, doing the move in the shirt of the team they bet against. | "Terms and conditions: the shirt stays on." | The morning after, once the bet is settled and they have agreed to pay up this way. |
| The group chat | One clip per person, all on the same night, from a Duo or Crew Pack. | "Who did it best? Vote." | A quiet weeknight, when the chat needs waking up. |
| Barça fan vs Madrid fan | The Barça fan, in a plain shirt in club colors, doing the move. | "This is what you look like defending it." | Right after a Clásico, while it still hurts. |
| The office league | The colleague who scored the winner, with their yes, in their work clothes. | "Monday stand-up highlight." | Monday morning, in the league chat, not the all-staff channel. |
| The friend who always says "that's easy" | You doing it, to settle the argument. | "Your turn. I'll wait." | The moment they say it's easy, again. |
| The keeper of your Sunday team | You, carrying the ball toward goal after the feint. | "See you Sunday. Same corner." | Saturday night, as a warm-up. |
Writing a caption that lands
- Keep it to one line. The clip is 8 seconds; the caption should be read in two.
- Point at the defender, not the person. "Your defence" teases a team. "You're useless" just hurts.
- Use the language your group uses. In the AI remakes counted 14-18 Oct 2026, Spanish captions drew the most plays (7.56M), so if your group chats in Spanish, write it in Spanish.
- Leave room for a reply. The best captions invite a comeback video, not silence.
Pick the shirt on purpose
The person keeps the clothes from the photo, so the shirt does a lot of the talking. Your own club colors say "my team did this to yours". A five-a-side bib says "this is about Thursday night". A suit says "office league". The outfit comes only from the photo, so pick a photo of them in the right colors. Plain, single-color shirts read best, because the camera is wide and the player is small in the frame.
Groups and leagues
Making it for a whole group
One photo makes one video, so a group means one video each. That is the fun part: everyone gets their own semi-rabona, in their own outfit, and the chat decides who looks most convincing.
| Group | Videos you need | Pack | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| You and one rival | 1 or 2 | Single | $9.99 each (10 credits) |
| A small group of friends | Up to 5 | Duo Pack | $29 for 5 videos (50 credits) |
| A five-a-side squad or office league | Up to 35 | Crew Pack | $99 for 35 videos (350 credits) |
| A whole Sunday league | Up to 90 | Studio Pack | $199 for 90 videos (900 credits) |
Pack credits never expire, so leftover videos wait for the next derby, the next lost bet or the next end-of-season night out. Full list on pricing.
Keep it funny
Rules of the game
A tease between friends is only funny if everyone is still friends afterwards. These are our rules, and some of them are built into the maker.
1. Only friends who said yes
Use your own photo, or a photo of a friend who has agreed to be in it. Ask before you upload. You can keep the caption a surprise, but not the fact that they are in a video. If your friend is under 18, their parent or guardian has to agree and do the upload. For younger players, see the kids page.
2. Tease, don't humiliate
The joke is about football: a team losing, a player who never passes, a bet that went wrong. Leave out bodies, jobs, relationships and anything your friend is touchy about. If they would not laugh at it with you in the room, do not send it.
3. No photos of public figures
No celebrities, no footballers, no politicians, no influencers. That includes the rival team's star. The playbook is for people you actually know.
4. Keep it in the right room
A clip that is funny in a five-person chat can be awkward in a work channel or on a public account. Ask before you post someone else's video publicly, and say it is AI-generated when you do.
5. Take it down if asked
If your friend changes their mind, delete it. On our side, uploaded photos are deleted after 30 days anyway.
The maker
How our maker works
- Upload one clear photo of you, or of a friend who said yes: alone, waist-up or full body, face front-on, good light, no sunglasses. The face should be clear, because the shot is wide and the player is small in it.
- Pay at checkout. No account needed: the video is emailed to the address you pay with.
- In about 3 minutes, download the 8-second vertical video with crowd sound and send it.
It works in a phone browser, so you can make it in the pub during the match. The pitch, the defender, the camera and every move are the same as in the clip; only the player on the ball changes. Group photos, side profiles, dark photos and pets don't work. Failed renders are never charged. If you are weighing it against the free CapCut template, our CapCut alternative page compares them honestly. Ready? Make yours.
We are an independent site. We are not affiliated with Lamine Yamal, FC Barcelona, Galatasaray or UEFA, and the video never shows Lamine Yamal. It shows the person in your photo, doing the move.
Asked in the comments
Questions about making it for friends
Can I make a rabona video of my friend?
Yes, if your friend has said yes to you using their photo (and if they are under 18, a parent or guardian has too). Upload one clear photo of them and you get the same 8-second clip as the trend, vertical, with stadium sound, and your friend on the ball: their face, hair and the clothes from the photo.
Can I put my friend in as the defender who falls for it?
No. The person in your photo is always the one doing the move. The defender in the red or orange shirt stays exactly as in the viral clip. The tease works the other way: you send your friend a clip of you doing the move, with a caption that makes them the defender.
Can I make one for the whole group chat?
Yes. Each video uses one photo, so a group means one video per person. The Duo Pack is $29 for 5 videos and the Crew Pack is $99 for 35. Pack credits never expire, so you can keep some for the next result.
Do my friends need an account or the app to watch it?
No. You get a normal video file, 9:16 at 720p, that you can send on any messaging app or post anywhere. Nobody needs an app, CapCut or a TikTok account to make or watch it.
Can I use a photo of a famous player or a celebrity?
No. No celebrities, no footballers and no public figures. Only you, or a friend who said yes. Pets don't work either: the clip needs a person on the ball.
Is it free?
No. A single video is $9.99 for 10 credits. If a render fails, the credits come back automatically. There is no subscription to sign up for.
Does the video show Lamine Yamal?
No. It is the same 8-second clip every time; only the person on the ball changes, and that person is whoever is in your photo, in their own clothes. It is AI-generated, not a real recording, and never shows a real player. We are an independent site, not affiliated with Lamine Yamal, FC Barcelona, Galatasaray or UEFA.
How long does it take to make?
About 3 minutes. That is quick enough to send it while the match you are arguing about is still on.
Your friend is the defender now
One photo, one caption, one 8-second semi-rabona with stadium sound, ready in about 3 minutes. Friends who said yes.
